Services
Placing white fillings in front teeth used to be picking a single shade of the filling and placing it in the cavity.
Whilst sometimes they blended well the results were often disappointing.
The fillings did not match and they stained easily and discoloured.
Modern white fillings are placed using two or three shades to build the filling in layers.
This mimics the actual structure of the tooth and so produces a more aesthetic result.
Modern white fillings have a smoother finish and are less prone to staining and do not discolor as easily.
We are fortunate in having a dedicated and enthusiastic team of hygienists working within our practice, and the service that they provide is an essential part of the care that you will receive at the High Street Dental Practice.
Many patients find that they get best value from their visits to us by combining their regular examination appointment with a hygienist appointment.
Patients who join our Membership Plan have two or four hygienist visits per year included within the Plan.
Professional cleaning of your teeth by removing hard and soft bacterial deposits that can cause bad breath and gum disease.
Clear Smile Brace and Six Month Smiles are techniques for straightening your teeth in an average time of six months to eight months, using tooth coloured brackets and coated wires.
The technology works by applying simple movements to the teeth that show when you smile and does not attempt to make significant changes in your jaw relationship.
These simple movements, together with gentle cosmetic recontouring and tooth whitening will give you the attractive smile you have always wanted.

We can provide orthodontics for children under the NHS.
If your child has crowded teeth or other issues with the position of their teeth then they may be need orthodontics to correct the problem.
The first step is an initial appointment with Dr Lucy Pitman to assess the teeth.
If your child fulfils the criteria for NHS treatment then they would then go onto a waiting list to start treatment.
Very complex cases may be referred on the Royal United Hospital in Bath for advanced treatment.
Mild crowding may not be eligible for NHS treatment in which case treatment but could be offered privately.
Pain and clicking from the jaw joints can impact severely on quality of life.
It is often associated with headaches, migraines, painful teeth, grinding and clenching, muscular pain in the face, excessive wear on the teeth, broken teeth and fillings.
The cause of these problems is related to the function of the jaw joint, the way your teeth meet together and hyperactivity of the jaw muscles.
These problems can be treated using a small plastic guard that fits over your teeth called an occlusal splint.
