Crescent Dental Practice
Just to let you know that we open for all procedures. We have introduced even more stringent cross-infection control measures. We completely change the air in the surgery between patients, and you will notice plastic coverings everywhere! We ask you to arrive on time for your appointments so that waiting room time is minimalised. It is important not to let your dental health go unchecked and allow potential problems to worsen.

Regular dental check-ups include assessment of teeth for decay, gums for periodontal disease and the rest of the mouth for signs of oral cancer. Online booking now available for certain clinics only. For bookings outside of these times or for combination dental and hygiene please phone the practice.

In this confusing world of 'celebrity smile make-overs', flashy lasers, dangerous unlicensed bleaching chemicals, cheap foreign implants and foreign-made crowns, it's good to know that there are UK dental professionals who are passionate about excellence and proud to adhere to tried and tested techniques.

Prevention is always better than cure.
We eat and live healthily to avoid problems later in life, and we should also take proper care of our teeth gums and mouth to prevent potentially painful and expensive problems.
This means regular and thorough brushing and oral hygiene, sensible diet control and regular checkups with your dentist.
At Crescent Dental Practice we not only check your teeth, we also look at the general health of the gums and the surface of the mouth and throat.
All of these areas are important, and poor oral health can lead to other problems as well as to serious dental problems.
Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling.
The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth.
Crowns are sometimes also known as 'caps'.
Crowns are made of a variety of materials and new materials are being introduced all the time.
Traditional porcelain: these crowns are not as strong as bonded crowns but they can look very natural and are most often used for front teeth.
Sealants are a safe and painless way of protecting your child's (or your own) teeth from decay.
A sealant is a protective plastic coating, which is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth.
The sealant forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay.
Sealants are only applied to the back teeth - the molars and premolars.
These are the teeth that have pits and fissures on their biting surfaces.
Your dentist will tell you which teeth should be sealed after they have examined them, and checked whether the fissures are deep enough for sealing to help.
