Church Street Dental Surgery
Church Street Dental Surgery provides treatment rooms that are both relaxed and caring for your family's routine dental care. From the youngest child to their parents and indeed their grandparents, we can provide care for all three generation under one roof. We are a dental surgery devoted to the prevention of dental disease. We encourage regular visits to the Dentist and Hygienist.

Additional to this we have an Oral Health Educator. This approach works well with most patients who benefit from enjoying a disease free mouth with little or no dental work needed. We firmly believe that all cavities can be prevented by carrying out good oral hygiene. This involves twice daily brushing with an oscillating rotating electric toothbrush and using quality fluoride toothpaste.

Combing a good healthy diet avoiding frequent sugary snacks will reduce decay. Prevention also involves detection of early cavities, fluoride application and education. This can be done by your Hygienist or Oral Health Educator.
Services
The crown of the tooth is that part which is visible in the mouth.
An artificial crown is used to protect and restore a broken, weakened or heavily filled tooth.
They are also used to improve the appearance of discoloured or crooked teeth.
The dentist will shade match the tooth so that, when the artificial crown is fitted, it will be the same colour, size and shape as a normal tooth.
Preparation time will depend on how damaged the tooth is and whether it needs to be built up first.
If the tooth has died or there isn't enough left to support the crown it may have to be root filled first - this is sometimes called removing the nerve.
At Church Street Dental Surgery we pride ourselves on giving our patients the best possible care.
Our consultations with Mr Griffin allow him to provide a personal detailed dental examination and provide you with all the information you need about the health of your mouth.
A thorough examination helps you and your dentist to look after your mouth to help prevent future problems.
The dentist will take the time to discuss and explain all the options available and then you can decide what will be best for you.
Plaque is a soft, sticky substance that builds up on your teeth.
It is mostly made up of bacteria.
The bacteria in plaque feed on sugar from food and drink, producing acids as a waste product.
The acids attack the teeth by dissolving the mineral in the tooth surface.
If this happens too often, tooth decay results.
And, if plaque is allowed to build up, the bacteria in it can cause gum disease, making your gums sore and infected.
Calculus (Also known as tartar or scale), formed by hardened plaque, helps plaque to gather and makes it harder to remove when you brush.
Unlike other forms of replacement teeth, dental implants are small metal or ceramic devices not unlike a screw fitting which are inserted into the jaw during surgery.
Teeth, in the form of a crown, bridge, or denture, are then attached to the implant.
Your dentist should tell you about the stages of treatment, who would be carrying out each stage and the timetable from completing treatment.
You might be referred to a specialist.
Bone is exposed in the jaw where the tooth is missing.
Then a hole is drilled and the implant is inserted into the bone.
Orthodontists usually use braces and clear aligners to set the patient's teeth.
It is the speciality of dentistry that is concerned with the treatment of improper bites and crooked teeth.
We recommend Invisalign as our preferred method or orthodontics.
Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth.
As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.
