Services
Modern techniques and materials coupled with regular attendance by patients have all but made unnecessary tooth loss a thing of the past and whilst we cannot promise to perform miracles, it is now the case that the overwhelming majority of people can expect to keep their own teeth for life.
Indeed, patients are increasingly considering cosmetic dentistry to improve the aesthetic appearance of their teeth.
Here at Oakbank Dental Care we offer a wide range of dental treatments, such as bleaching, veneers, implants etc. and are always happy to discuss your expectations in this area and provide a costed treatment plan should you wish to proceed.
Teeth can be discoloured by smoking and foods and drinks we consume.
Teeth are also naturally variable in shade.
Tooth whitening is a successful and simple method of lightening the colour of your teeth.
The degree of whiteness achieved will vary from patient to patient and with the type of bleaching process chosen.
A whitening gel is placed in a custom-made tray which you can wear for short periods during the day.
Results are normally seen over 3-6 weeks.
We do not offer in-surgery whitening as it has been proven to be no more effective and is a lot more costly.
Many people have concerns over the safety of mercury/amalgam fillings.
Amalgam is an alloy of several different metals that include silver, tin, copper, mercury and zinc.
This filling material is used because of its strength and durability.
Depending on the size and shape of the cavity, our dentists will restore the tooth with a white (tooth coloured) filling.
As well as aesthetically pleasing, white fillings bond to the tooth structure and help strengthen the tooth.
Composite fillings can also improve the appearance of your front teeth - covering staining and altering their shape.
Dentures are removable appliances used to replace missing teeth, this can help support lips and cheeks and improve comfort when eating.
This can also help improve your facial appearance and give you more confidence in your smile.
A partial denture fills in the spaces created by lost or missing teeth and can be attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps.
As a practice we work in partnership with Care Dental Implant Clinic to provide your implant dentistry.
The clinic, under the clinical leadership of Dr Bruce Strickland, was awarded 'Best Implant Clinic in the U.K. 2011.
Dr Strickland has been working in implant dentistry for the last 15 years, he successfully places around 400 implants per year working alongside his lab technician in his referral practice in Crieff.
To add qualification to experience he completed a 2 year diploma with the Royal College of Surgeons, England in 2008, with an Advanced Certificate in bone grafting.
