Tooth structure and integrity can become compromised by decay which softens the tooth substance and results in a cavity.
Other reasons why tooth structure can become compromised are due to tooth wear, cracks or breaks due to excessive forces during function or even trauma for example due to a knock to the teeth during an accident.
Periodontal Gum Treatment (for gum disease) is the treatment of swelling, soreness or infection of the tissues supporting the teeth.
There are two main types of gum disease: 'gingivitis' and 'periodontitis'.
Gingivitis means inflammation of the gums.
This is when the gums around the teeth become very red and swollen.
Often the swollen gums bleed when you brush them, they may also bleed when eating, leaving a bad taste in your mouth.
Your breath may also become unpleasant.
Long-standing gingivitis can turn into periodontitis.
If your tooth is damaged or decayed and can't be repaired with a filling or crown, your dentist may decide to remove (extract) the tooth.
When your tooth can't be repaired, tooth removal may be the best option for you.
We will talk through the options available, during your consultation.
If you think you might need a tooth extraction please give us a call on 01305 774370 to book in for an appointment or send an email to info@phoenixdentalcare.uk.
There are lots of reasons why you might need to have a tooth removed.
