Following guidance from our Prime Minister, England's Chief Nursing Officer, Office of Chief Dental Officer England and the British Dental Association - face coverings and social distancing measures will remain in place across healthcare settings, so that the most vulnerable people can continue to safely attend all healthcare settings for advice, care and treatment.

It is important for the public to continue to play their part when visiting NHS and care settings to help protect our staff and patients, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to infections. When visiting a dentist, face coverings, social distancing and hand washing remain fundamentals not optional extras.

We would like to thank all of our patients for their continued support during these difficult times and abiding by these procedures so that we are able to stay open and give our patients the best care that we are able to.

At your first visit, we will discuss your medical history and conduct a thorough oral examination, which may include any necessary x-rays.
We encourage you to discuss any concerns you may have about your oral health.
We will be happy to explain any treatment required.
It may be necessary to make further appointments, allowing sufficient time to complete any dental treatment.
Following an initial examination, we will be able to give you an estimate of costs.
We fully appreciate that some people are apprehensive about some aspects of dental treatment but we will do our best to reassure you and plan any treatment accordingly.
Gum disease is the most common disease affecting every family globally.
A good daily dental hygiene routine will ensure your teeth and gums are free of the daily build-up of plaque and tartar, whilst regular dental hygiene appointments remove both in those harder to reach places to prevent cavities, gingivitis and gum disease.
Daily dental hygiene routine to ensure you can maintain those areas at risk on a day to day basis in between dental hygiene appointments.
Brush your teeth morning and night with a fluoride toothpaste ensuring you are cleaning all surfaces of your teeth and gently massaging the gum margins.
Root canal therapy (or endodontics) involves removing infected pulp from the innermost part of the tooth.
This prevents the infection from spreading and can help save a tooth that may otherwise have to be extracted.
The pulp is made up of soft tissue, including nerves and blood vessels, and extends from the crown to the tips of the root.
The pulp can become infected due to decay, a deep filling or trauma to the tooth.
Symptoms can include pain, increased sensitivity to temperature, discolouration, a metallic taste, gum tenderness or swelling.
As well as providing an effective repair for tooth decay or damage, composite (or white) fillings are also a natural-looking alternative to more obvious amalgam fillings.
This is because they are made from tooth-coloured resin; a mixture of plastic and glass that blends in beautifully with your teeth.
They support the structure of a damaged tooth, helping to prevent further breakage or sensitivity, and can be placed in the front or back teeth.
The area to be treated is numbed with a local anaesthetic and the decayed part of the tooth removed.
Fissures are the thin grooves on the chewing surfaces and no matter how well they are brushed, bacteria can still collect within them and eventually cause decay.
A fissure sealant is a safe plastic coating applied to the tooth to stop food particles and bacteria from settling in these hard-to-clean grooves.
This preventive treatment is normally given to children whose permanent teeth are starting to emerge, usually between 6 and 7 years.
The application process is quick and easy, and there is no need for an anaesthetic or drilling.
