The two major causes of tooth loss are: decay and periodontal (gum) disease. Through good dental hygiene we can prevent these conditions or deal with them in a quick and easy manner. It is widely recognised that your oral health has an impact on your general health & wellbeing. Nowadays many people turn to cosmetic dentistry, or 'aesthetic dentistry', as a way of improving their appearance.

Treatments can be used to straighten, lighten, reshape and repair teeth. Cosmetic treatments include tooth whitening, veneers, crowns, bridges, tooth-coloured fillings and implants. For those who do require urgent dental treatment, we always keep emergency times set aside in our day to accommodate anoyne with a dental emergency. At Cuddigans, we will always do our best to deal with your emergency, no matter what treatment you require.

Our practice is a modern, well equipped and comfortable surgery located in a beautiful Grade 2 listed building in Brentwood High Street in Essex. We are a family run surgery and we pride ourselves on our personal touch, getting to know our patients and their families and forming excellent and lasting relationships with them.
Services
John qualified from Sheffield University in 1991.
After qualifying he worked as a House Officer for a year at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, increasing his skills in all aspects of dental care.
John's surgical skills were further developed with Senior House Officer posts in Maxillo-Facial surgery in hospitals for a period of 4 years.
During these years he obtained his Fellowship from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in London.
After a period of time spent travelling, including time working in general practice in Auckland, New Zealand, he returned to the Brentwood area to work in the family practice.
We are proud of the fact that many of our new patients join us through word of mouth recommendation.

The dentist is very good at putting one at ease.
Every step is always explained and no question is ever considered too stupid.
When work is necessary, it is explained in full and the discomfort is minimised and managed very well.
It was only for a check-up and the dentist was really thorough and took X-ray's just to make sure all was good.
This surgery has always been the friendliest and most helpful over the 37 years I have been associated with it.

At John Cuddigan and Associates, all patients can choose between NHS dental care, Private care or a mixture of both.
We work with you to provide the care plan that's right for you.
Private dentistry focuses on the clinical aspect of dental health care, along with improving how a person's smile appears.
Private dentistry prices are not fixed (unlike those under the NHS) and there is no limit to the number of appointments or the types of treatments available.
You will have wider treatment choices available to you because treatment options will not be restricted (unlike the NHS).
Our Dental hygienists Amy and Bradley will work to prevent and treat gum disease and to improve the cosmetic appearance of your teeth.
They will professionally clean your teeth by removing plaque, tartar and staining (usually called a 'scale and polish').
They will show you the best way to keep your teeth free of plaque and will also give advice about oral hygiene and preventing tooth decay.
Regular cleaning to remove plaque and tartar, combined with looking after your teeth and gums properly at home, will help keep your mouth healthy.
