Tovey Little Dental Centre was originally based on Bond Street, Wakefield, for over 25 years. The practice is situated in the centre of Wakefield and is within walking distance of the bus station. There are also car parking facilities in the pay and display carpark, which surrounds the practice. We have seven Associate Dentists and two Foundation Dentists, complimented by three Hygienists, a Hygiene Therapist, a Practice Manager, and a dedicated team of Dental Nurses and Receptionists.
With over 100 years combined experience, and over 60 years of keeping Wakefield smiling, we pride ourselves on our outstanding dental care. Implants are one way of replacing missing teeth.
Unlike other forms of replacement teeth, dental implants are small metal or ceramic devices, not unlike a screw fitting, which are inserted into the jaw during surgery.
Dental implants offer a permanent solution for your missing teeth and, are essentially, a substitute for a natural root.
Each implant is placed into a socket and carefully drilled where the previous tooth would have been.
The dentist will then attach a replacement tooth onto the implant.

A denture is an appliance which is worn to replace missing teeth, to enable you to enjoy a healthy diet and smile with confidence.
A complete or full denture replaces the natural teeth and provides support for cheeks and lips.
Without this support, sagging facial muscles can make a person appear older and reduce their ability to eat and speak.
A full denture is one that replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaw.
A partial denture replaces the spaces created by lost or missing teeth and can be attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps called precision attachments.

Oral cancer is an abnormal growth that can affect any surface of the mouth.
It can present itself as a painless ulcer that fails to heal after 2-3 weeks, which can have the appearance of a white or red patch in the mouth.
The vast majority of ulcers/lesions within the mouth are non-cancerous, but if you have a non-healing ulcer, it should be checked by a dentist.
There is a much higher risk of developing oral cancer for people that drink and smoke to excess.
