As we get older our teeth get darker.
This is partly due to our getting older, but it is also caused by the foods we eat and drink, and by other habits such as smoking.
Tea, coffee, blackcurrant juice, red wine and other foods that have strong colours can have an effect on the overall colour of our teeth.
The most common type of whitening is called 'home whitening'.
This will involve the dentist taking an impression of your teeth we will then have trays made specially to fit into your mouth like gum-shields.

Dental implants have been around for over 25 years.
Where natural teeth are missing titanium implants can be inserted into the region subject to enough bone being available.
Once these have become firm then the area of missing teeth can be restored with crowns or a bridge.
A crown mounted on a dental implant is the best choice if you have a tooth missing in the upper or lower jaw.
The need to replace a missing tooth could be the result of an accident or because there was no predisposition for a tooth at birth.

A crown can help strengthen a tooth with a large filling, when there isn't enough tooth remaining to hold the filling.
Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that's already broken.
A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discoloured or badly shaped.
It's also used to fit onto a dental implant.
There are ready-made stainless steel posts which the dentist can fit directly into the root canal; a custom-made post is made to accurately fit the shape of the prepared root canal.
