Our practice is very well equipped for the benefit of the patient but without the premium price tag. Amongst many other things we have digital x-ray equipment including CT-Scanner, intra-oral scanner and our laboratory has a digital printer. More importantly, we take customer service very seriously! When you visit us, you'll agree. As a "digital practice" we have an intra-oral scanner which means you don't have to endure these messy impressions any more!.
We also have digital X-rays which reduces the radiation you get when X-rays are taken, significantly!. And finally, we have a small dental laboratory on-site to offer same-day denture repairs and other services. Our principal dentist Dr Nelz has 26 years of experience in dentistry. Mostly complete oral rehabilitation (reconstruction of severely neglected mouths/teeth) often under General Anaesthesia has been the main field of his work.
He placed his first dental implant in 1997! We use high-quality materials and instruments. General dentistry such as tooth coloured fillings or inlays.

The effects of mercury on tissues such as liver, kidneys and brain are documented (Bioaccumulation).
However, we do not advocate the Removal of intact amalgam fillings in teeth free of decay!
Deep decay on lower left first and second premolar.
The brown dentine indicates that there is still decay which needs to be removed.
Note: the correct way of doing such fillings is under Rubber Dam!
The tooth (dentin) needs to be kept dry whilst the filling is placed.
If there is contamination with saliva the bond between composite and tooth substance is impaired.

There are more benefits of e.max crowns than there are eMax crown disadvantages or e.max crown problems.
Aesthetically e.max restorations are superior to zirconia or PFM (porcelain fused to metal) crowns.
However, in heavy bruxers (= patients who display bruxism such as grinding or clenching very strongly) e.max restorations need to be thick enough.
In such cases, Zirconia (full contour) or PFM crowns might be better.
However, in the majorities of cases treated in our clinic, we prefer e.max restorations.

At Atlantic Dental, we are carrying out Gum Disease Treatment painlessly under local anaesthesia.
Before you attend your appointment, you already had a Hygienist appointment and have received Oral Hygiene Instructions such as the use of interdental brushes (TePe's/Easypicks) and other tools.
That is an absolute precondition for successful treatment of your Gum Disease!
In some cases, we will dispense/prescribe Antibiotics which need to be taken at the time of the treatment.
The combination of oral antibiotics and the removal of the Biofilm has proven to be very effective in treating severe and acute periodontitis.

Sometimes, patients don't want to undergo invasive (and expensive) dental treatment such as the placement of dental implants or the preparation of teeth for a fixed (conventional) bridge.
In other situations, patients suffer from periodontal disease (Gum Disease) and are therefore not good candidates for dental implants or fixed bridges.
Or patients are medically compromised and not able to undergo longer treatments.
These patients will often end up with partial dentures.
These dentures often lose their fit due to the shrinkage of the gum under these dentures.

This patient asked for an implant to replace the right incisor.
However, there was a lot of damage to the underlying bone with resulting deficiency.
The placement of an implant would have required extensive bone (and gum ) grafting to achieve a good aesthetic result.
After a thorough assessment and discussion with the patient, we have prepared the neighbouring teeth, removed the damaged tooth and place a gum graft.
After some alterations and improvements to the temporary bridge, we place the final bridge 5 weeks later.
