As well as providing an effective repair for tooth decay or damage, composite (or white) fillings are also a natural-looking alternative to more obvious amalgam fillings.
This is because they are made from tooth-coloured resin; a mixture of plastic and glass that blends in beautifully with your teeth.
They support the structure of a damaged tooth, helping to prevent further breakage or sensitivity, and can be placed in the front or back teeth.
The area to be treated is numbed with a local anaesthetic and the decayed part of the tooth removed.

Root canal therapy (or endodontics) involves removing infected pulp from the innermost part of the tooth.
This prevents the infection from spreading and can help save a tooth that may otherwise have to be extracted.
The pulp is made up of soft tissue, including nerves and blood vessels, and extends from the crown to the tips of the root.
The pulp can become infected due to decay, a deep filling or trauma to the tooth.
Symptoms can include pain, increased sensitivity to temperature, discolouration, a metallic taste, gum tenderness or swelling.

More room is needed for successful orthodontic treatment or to ensure new dentures fit properly.
We take an x-ray and assess your teeth to ascertain the best method of removal, which will either be a simple extraction or a surgical extraction.
A simple extraction is performed on a tooth that is visible in the mouth.
It involves loosening the tooth and removing it with dental forceps under local anaesthetic.
A surgical extraction involves making a small incision in the gum to remove a tooth that may have broken off or is concealed under the gum.
