Root canal treatment is a dental procedure to treat infection at the centre of a tooth (the root canal system).
At this stage the only way to treat the infection is to either extract the tooth or provide a root treatment.
Sometimes people are given antibiotics, but these do NOT treat the source of the infection.
They just mask the problem so this is not a sensible longterm option.
2. a way to seal around the tooth during treatment to allow use of tiny filing instruments and really effective cleaning solutions within the tooth and prevent bacteria entering from your mouth.

Crowns can be used to rebuild badly broken teeth.
The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth.
Crowns are made of a variety of materials and new materials are being introduced all the time.

The bone is able to grow around the peg and this can then be used to place either a crown, bridge or a denture that is much more retentive than relying on the soft tissues alone.
