If a cavity is detected during a check-up, your dentist can provide a dental filling before it develops into a more serious problem.
Dental fillings replace part of a tooth that has been lost because of decay, wear or accidental damage.
Typically fillings are made from either amalgam (silver fillings) or composite (white/tooth coloured fillings).
White fillings are made of synthetic resin materials (composite).
There are also materials that contain glass particles (glass ionomer).
These fillings can be used to restore decayed teeth and to improve the shape/colour of disfigured, malformed and chipped teeth.

Root canal treatment (endodontics) is necessary when there is an infection present at the tip of a tooth's root, or when there is too much decay present for a simple filling.
The aim of endodontics is to remove infection and debris from the affected canal before filling the tooth.
Often this can be done in one visit but sometimes more visits may be required.
The alternative is to extract the tooth.
Unfortunately if there is too much decay or infection present there are few options for saving the tooth.

When carried out by a dentist of course it is safe.
Sometimes, often due to certain medications, we may not be able to carry out the extraction within the surgery.
In this instance, we will arrange for you to have treatment at a local hospital where they are specially trained to deal with any complications.

Dental veneers are very thin pieces of ceramic that are fixed to the forward facing surfaces of the teeth to improve the appearance.
Porcelain veneers can be used on one tooth or any number of your teeth.
When they are used on groups of teeth, porcelain veneers can dramatically improve your smile.
Our dentists work with you to design your perfect smile.
We remove a minimal amount of enamel from the surface of your tooth/teeth to prepare it for the final restoration.
Impressions are taken before being sent to a dental laboratory to be made.
