The NHS will provide any clinically necessary treatment needed to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthier and free of pain. Decisions about which treatment are appropriate will be based on a clinical assessment and clinical judgements. Private dental care is available to everyone, you don't need any health insurance, there's no membership or contract involved in private dental care.

As a private patient, it merely means you get access to a greater suite of treatments, such as teeth whitening etc. At Chigwell Dental our dentists strive to make all our patients feel as comfortable as possible and meet their expectations when it comes to the dental treatments we offer. This is especially true when it comes to meeting nervous patients, which is why we offer sedation to help combat all levels of dental phobia.
Services
At Chigwell Dental our dentists strive to make all our patients feel as comfortable as possible and meet their expectations when it comes to the dental treatments we offer.
This is especially true when it comes to meeting nervous patients, which is why we offer sedation to help combat all levels of dental phobia.
We take pride in the practice we run and therefore ensure staff are warm and helpful, and the environment is relaxing.
In addition to this, our services are both affordable and of high quality.
When you register at chigwell dental surgery we will book you in to have a general check-up.
At this appointment your dentist will assess the health of your teeth and gums and might take radiographs.
It is also an opportunity to discuss your dental history, diet and any concerns you have about your teeth or attending appointments.
You can also discuss any cosmetic procedures you might be interested in.
Your dentist may also recommend a hygienist appointment if required.
Through keeping up with advancing dentistry we hope that our practice can provide our patients not only general dental maintenance but an opportunity to prevent decay and tooth loss by teaching and encouraging good oral hygiene and providing up to date treatments for gum disease and discovering tooth decay at its earliest stages.
When you visit the practice, our main aim is to help you maintain a healthy and attractive smile and we believe to do this it is better to prevent problems rather than have to treat them.
Amalgam Fillings (silver fillings) - the traditional filling material which is very durable, hardwearing and is dark in colour.
White Fillings (composite fillings) - white or tooth coloured fillings provide a more natural, mercury-free alternative to traditional silver amalgam fillings.
They also allow for a minimally invasive restoration meaning more of your natural tooth can be preserved.
New white fillings closely match the existing tooth colour, producing a very pleasing result.
The white filling material can also be used to provide build-ups to chipped and damaged teeth.
A root canal is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth.
The procedures involve removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it.
The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma, the term "root canal" comes from cleaning of the canals inside the tooth's root.
If the dentist suspects you may need a root canal, they will first take radiographs or examine existing radiographs to show where the decay is located.
