Services
Peter is originally from the South West, having gone to school in Cornwall.
He qualified in 1997 at Guys Hospital Dental School in London.
He went on to obtain his Master of Restorative Dentistry in Endodontology (MRD) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
He is the only mono Specialist Endodontist with these qualifications working in Devon and Cornwall.
Peter is also a postgraduate tutor on the Endodontology Postgraduate programme at Kings College London and holds various lectures at the Peninsula Dental School and conferences.
Here at Spring Hill all our general dentists work around the belief that prevention is better than cure.
As a result, they will instruct, advise and guide patients of all ages on the best way to protect their teeth and how to maintain good oral health.
Please see our Specialist Dentistry section for more information on treatments including implants, root canal treatment and orthodontics.
The main focus is on the health of patients' gums and how to prevent oral diseases such as gingivitis (gum disease).
Hygienists will professionally clean the patient's teeth, called 'scaling and polishing' to remove the hard deposits (calculus) that can form.
A crucial part of the oral hygiene advice they offer is showing people the best way to keep their teeth free of plaque by demonstrating effective brushing techniques and interdental cleaning.
They also give advice on diet and preventing dental decay.
We welcome children of any age to come and visit our dentists even if it's just to say hello and sit in the dental chair!
The introduction to their dentist and the surgery is very important in order to make them feel as comfortable as possible when their appointments come around.
We would usually recommend 6 monthly dental examinations for children, this will help to ensure that their teeth remain healthy and cavity free!
It is very achievable for children to not need any fillings with good maintenance at home and keeping regular visits up to the dentist.
General dentists can perform endodontic procedures (root canal treatment) but they often refer patients to an Endodontist.
An Endodontist is a dentist who specialises in saving teeth.
They perform routine as well as complex procedures including root canal treatment, root canal retreatment and endodontic microsurgery (also known as apicectomy).
Endodontists are also experts in local anaesthesia, ensuring that patients are completely numb and comfortable during their treatment.
There are often lots of horror stories about root canal treatment but you can be assured you are in the best hands!
