Having qualified in 1981 at Guys Hospital, I spent my early professional career in the Dental Branch of the Royal Air Force. Their ideals were to advance the professional training and promote the ethos of providing the best dental care possible for our patients. I served mainly in the UK but had several months in the Falkland Islands, 3 years in Hong Kong and 2 months in Cyprus on the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron during the first Gulf War.
I passed the Membership examination of the Royal College of Surgeons in General Dental Surgery in 1992 and, having been in the RAF for 16 years, I decided that as I was enjoying General Practice Dentistry it was time to buy my own Practice rather than becoming mainly an administrator.
I became the Principal of the Nyewood Dental Practice in 1995 and have continued to enjoy providing Dentistry to a delightful group of people and, happily, their numbers have increased year by year to such an extent that I needed another dentist to cover the demand both now and in the future.

Services
Crowns are laboratory made restorations that fit over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, adding strength to the top part of the tooth.
They are often used to protect heavily restored, broken down or root canal treated teeth, or to re-establishing the natural shape and appearance of the tooth.
Crowns (or caps as they are sometimes known) can be made of a variety of materials including gold, porcelain or a combination of metal and porcelain.
Fissure sealants are a safe, quick and painless way to protect your teeth from decay.

I have used the services of Richard Plowman and his staff for just over a year and I can give them all nothing but praise.
Whether it be a simple filling, or having root canal treatment, I end up falling asleep in the chair.
The treatment received is beneficiary and of the highest class and I personally would never consider going anywhere else for dental treatment.
Plowman in Nyewood Lane, Aldwick.
In all these years I have always received excellent treatment from Mr Plowman and his staff.
A visit to the dentist, which was once the visit you looked forward to least, has become, with his kindness and considerable skills, a pleasurable experience.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the leading Gurkha welfare charity.
It was established in 1969 when it was realised that a great many elderly Gurkha soldiers and their dependents were living in destitution in Nepal.
Many had served in the Second World War; however, they had not served the 15 years needed to qualify for an army pension.
Recognising Britain's debt of honour to these great men, TGWT was established to "relieve poverty and distress among Gurkha veterans of the Crown and their dependents".

Nyewood Dental Practice are delighted to have co-sponsored the Royal Veterinary College Ladies Hockey teams with bespoke Mouth Guards in the College's colours.
In conjunction with our co-sponsor, Felpham Dental Ceramics, we have provided the players with custom made, close-fitting mouth guards.
Wearing a mouth guard will help to protect their teeth from the impact of a hockey ball, a hockey stick and/or horses hooves.
A donation was also made to the Gurkha Welfare Trust charity as the 1st IX captain has been involved with and voluntarily assisted on one of their Dental Camps in Chitwan, Nepal.
